While I agree this was the wrong way to go about doing things, at least in the end you were happy. But may I suggest in the future that if you are not happy in your relationship to take a break and explore other options rather than hurting someone. -

All's well that end's well, right? Sounds like your ex wasn't making you terribly happy. Though in the future you might avoid tempting situations so you don't end up hurting this guy, too. -

If your not happy and want to leave thats understandable. But couldn't you wait just that one more day until u actually broke up with your boyfriend. That would have been the right thing to do.
